Samsung's Flash Chip Plant in China Approved by Korean Government

Samsung Electronics has obtained approval from the Korean government to build a NAND flash chip manufacturing plant in China, according to a January 3, 2012 report by Reuters. Samsung is reported to adopt 20-nm or below process technology, but the company has yet to decide the location of the new plant. The new production line is slated to enter mass production in late 2013, and its production capacity is projected to arrive at 100,000 wafers per month.
